WWE legend Jerry Lawler hospitalized after stroke

Jerry “The King” Lawler, a WWE Hall of Fame wrestler, is recovering Tuesday after having a stroke, WHBQ-TV reported.

The news station reported that Lawler, 73, was hospitalized following a medical episode in Florida on Monday night. Wrestling News reported he was hospitalized in the Fort Myers area, where he owns a condo.

Wrestlers Ric Flair and Ricky Morton took to social media to wish Lawler well.

Lawler was inducted in 2007 into the WWE Hall of Fame, WHBQ reported. Last month, he appeared at a WWE SmackDown! event in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, according to the news station.

In 2012, Lawler suffered a cardiac arrest during a live telecast of “Monday Night Raw,” the Bleacher Report and Fox Sports reported. He later said his heart stopped for 22 minutes, according to Fox Sports.

The Memphis, Tennessee, native also had a stroke in 2018, WHBQ reported.
