Tribute concerts for the Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins are expected to take place this September in London and Los Angeles.
The Foo Fighters, along with the Hawkins family, announced Wednesday that there will be two tribute concerts taking place in the fall in honor of the late Taylor Hawkins. Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear and Rami Jaffee, with Hawkins’ family, will be coming together to celebrate his life, music and their admiration for him.
The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts will take place on September 3 at London’s Wembley Stadium and September 27 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, according to the Foo Fighters.
“As one of the most respected and beloved figures in modern music, Taylor’s monolithic talent and magnetic personality endeared him to millions of fans, peers, friends and fellow musical legends the world over,” the Foo Fighters said in a statement.
The lineups for the shows have not yet been announced but the group is expecting to share them soon. Deadline says the lineups will be “all-star rock and roll shows.”
“The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts will unite several of those artists, the Hawkins family and of course his Foo Fighters brothers in celebration of Taylor’s memory and his legacy as a global rock icon—his bandmates and his inspirations playing the songs that he fell in love with, and the ones he brought to life,” the Foo Fighters said in a statement.
Taylor passed away on March 25 in Colombia while on tour. SPIN and Variety both say no cause of death has been determined.
“My deepest thanks and admiration go out to the global Foo Fighters community and Taylor’s fans far and wide for the outpouring of love each and every one of you have shown our beloved Taylor. Your kindness has been invaluable comfort for my family and me during this time of unimaginable grief,” Taylor’s wife, Alison Hawkins, said in a statement.
