If you like Sierra Mist, you may want to start stocking up on it. Pepsi has decided to drop the line of lemon-lime soda and will find another drink to take on Sprite, CNN reported.
Pepsi said that the 24-year-old beverage wasn’t able to put a dent into Sprite sales.
Sprite, which is produced by Pepsi’s competitor, Atlanta-based Coca-Cola, is the market leader and the most popular lemon-lime soda on the market with $6 billion in sales and 8.6% of the market, the “Today” show reported.
It will also compete against Keurig Dr Pepper’s 7Up, “Today” reported.
Now the “choice of the new generation” will be rolling out Starry, a caffeine-free soft drink that has “higher citrus flavors that are true to fruit and more aromatic,” when compared to its predecessor, CNN reported.
Starry comes in regular and sugar-free varieties, according to a news release.
“Today” reported that Starry is already hitting store shelves and those who tasted it said it is better than Sierra Mist, more like Sprite. Others said it is a sweeter version of Sierra Mist.
