In a Saturday news release, the Food Safety and Inspection Service said California-based Ajinomoto Foods North America has issued a recall for more than 33,500 pounds of frozen chicken and vegetable pot stickers “that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically clear flexible and hard plastic.”

The recalled 4.2-pound bags of Ling Ling-branded items, which were produced July 22 and bear a “best by” date of Oct. 22, are labeled “Ling Ling Potstickers Chicken & Vegetable,” the release said. The items also include lot code 1911203 and establishment No. P20069.

In an announcement on its website, Ajinomoto said the affected products were first sent to five distribution centers, then shipped to Costco stores in the following locations: Alabama; Alaska; California’s Bay Area; Tallahassee, Florida; Georgia; Idaho; Illinois; Indiana; Iowa; Mississippi; Missouri; North Carolina; Oregon; Tennessee; Washington and Wisconsin. The company said it immediately notified Costco about the recall and asked stores to remove the products from shelves.

Regulators said consumers may have bought some of the recalled pot stickers and stored them in freezers, according to the FSIS.

“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them,” the agency said. “These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”

The FSIS has not received any reports of injuries or adverse reactions related to the products, the release said.
