AURORA, Colo. — A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of three people in Aurora, Colorado, police say.
Aurora Police Department homicide detectives arrived at a house in Aurora after 7 p.m. Saturday, according KUSA. Detectives found two women and a man shot to death inside the house.
The house is located in the 1500 block of South Evanston Street, according to KDVR. Officers went to the house for a welfare check call that was placed just after 5 p.m. Officers reportedly didn’t find anything suspicious and left the area, Aurora Police’s Public Information Officer Matthew Longshore said in a news conference, according to KDVR.
Around 7 p.m., relatives were able to get into the house and found three deceased people, according to KDVR.
APD said in a news release that officers arrested Christopher Martinez, 21, at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday/
Investigators said Martinez reportedly knew the victims and was first contacted by police at the scene Saturday, according to KUSA.
“This senseless violence is inexplicable. Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated personnel, the suspect has been taken into custody and our community can breathe a collective sigh of relief. Our hearts go out to the family of the victims,” Chief Acevedo said in the news release.
APD said Martinez has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder.
The investigation is ongoing. No further information has been released.
