NEW YORK — The ex-girlfriend of the late Jeffrey Epstein is now facing sex-trafficking charges after prosecutors said she groomed a fourth victim, a 14-year-old girl, to participate in sexual activity with the financier.
According to The Associated Press and The New York Times, a rewritten federal indictment filed Monday against Ghislaine Maxwell, 59, charges the socialite with sex trafficking and sex-trafficking conspiracy, alleging that she gave the girl lingerie, paid her money and urged her to find other girls to give Epstein “sexualized massages” in the early 2000s.
Maxwell, who has remained in jail since her initial arrest in July 2020, already faced charges of luring three other girls, including a 14-year-old, to Epstein for sexual abuse in the mid-1990s, the AP reported. Maxwell also sexually abused the girls at times, prosecutors alleged.
Maxwell has denied the previous allegations, according to the Times.
The new charges come 19 months after authorities found Epstein, who was facing sex-trafficking charges, dead from an apparent suicide in his Manhattan jail cell, the news outlets reported.
