FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — A Florida woman’s night out ended with her charged with three counts of child neglect.
In a news release, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies said that they were initially called to an apartment complex in Fort Walton Beach, where a security officer had found a toddler wrapped in a blanket, asleep on the sidewalk.
The security officer had been patrolling the Choctaw Village Apartments, WKRG reported.
Deputies said they determined the 3-year-old lived at a nearby apartment, where investigators found two more young children asleep alone inside.
Shyla Heidelberg, 25, eventually returned to the apartment, and identified herself as the mother of the children when deputies questioned her, The Miami Herald reported.
