Musk’s announcement on Tuesday came after millions of Twitter users responded to a poll that he posted on the platform about whether he should step down or not. According to The Associated Press, Musk agreed to abide by the results. The poll’s results are that users asked Musk to step down.

On Twitter, Musk said once he finds someone to replace him as CEO, he will run only the software and servers teams.

I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job,” Musk said.

Since Musk took over Twitter at the end of October, Musk has reportedly issued rules and policies that have been withdrawn or changed after being made public, according to the AP. Investors with Musk’s other company, Tesla, are concerned that his taking over of Twitter has taken up too much of his time.

Twitter advertisers and some users have been “unnerved” by some of Musk’s actions, according to the AP, including laying off half of the workforce at Twitter, letting go content moderators and getting rid of the council of trust and safety advisers formed in 2016 to deal with issues on the platform such as hate speech, child exploitation, suicide and more.

Musk previously noted how difficult it will be to find someone to take over as CEO of Twitter, according to the AP.

Musk will retain his influence over Twitter as its owner, according to the AP. Musk reportedly fired the board of directors soon after he took control.
