New St. Johns County School will be called Pine Island Academy

St. Johns, FL. — The St. Johns County School’s naming committee has voted on a name for the K-8 School that is currently under construction.

It will be called Pine Island Academy.

This school will be open for the 2021-2022 academic school year.

Mrs. Amanda Riedl, the principal for this K-8 school, has facilitated 2 community meetings, a school naming committee and community surveys to solicit input on potential names for K-8 School.

The committee served to narrow down the suggested school names and mascots.

The results of the school naming committee have been revealed.

Listed below is a list of the names that were in consideration:

  • Coastal Palms Academy
  • Coastal Pines Academy
  • Pine Island Academy
  • River Valley Academy
  • Tolomato River Academy

The community will reconvene to finalize the school mascot once the school name is selected by the School Board.
