Neptune Beach Police Department rolls out program to stop ‘porch pirates’

Residents can have packages delivered to the Neptune Beach Police Department Headquarters to avoid "porch pirates" stealing them during the holidays.

Neptune Beach — People living in Neptune Beach have a new option available if they’re afraid of “porch pirates” stealing packages off their doorsteps.

The Neptune Beach Police Department is rolling out a Holiday Package Receiving Program where you can have packages delivered to police headquarters at 200 Lemon St.

Police say you have to be a Neptune Beach resident to participate. You can pick up packages between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., but you have to show a valid Florida ID.

The program is up and running now to Dec. 23.

“The number one priority of our agency is to ensure the safety of life and property for our residents. This is yet one more way we can better serve and protect our beautiful beachside community” says Chief of Police Richard Pike.
