Nassau County — The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office is welcoming a new K-9 to the department, but the furry canine still needs a name.
That’s where the public comes in.
Deputies are holding a “Name our Puppy Contest” where you can offer up your thoughts. Submissions are being accepted on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
The new Bloodhound was donated from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say the K-9 will be trained to search for missing and endangered children or adults, but right now he is only 9 weeks old.
Sheriff Bill Leeper and his K-9 Team will review the names and select a winning submission. The contest is open until Tuesday at midnight, and deputies say you should explain the name if it has a significant meaning or reason behind it.
