Jacksonville, Fl — It started with her mom. Diana Greene says her mom was a fan, supporter and a very strong woman. Greene learned about the love of teaching from her grandmother and her father. And the women leaders in her family church were motivational.

Our month-long spotlight on Women’s History Month continues with a conversation with the Superintendent of Schools in Duval County. Dr. Greene says she hopes to influence young women to find motivation and be prepared for setbacks as they build their career path.

“The path to leadership is doable. But it requires that you have to want it. You have to be motivated. Sometimes you’re going to have to inspire yourself”, Greene said in a lengthy interview.

Greene says she often tells students that she didn’t become superintendent the first time she ran for office. She had to be resilient and grow from defeat to ultimately find success.
