Jacksonville, FL — After months of investigating, the Florida Highway Patrol has arrested a woman they say was responsible for multiple collision on I-295, which resulted in one death.
The crashes happened the evening of March 10th along I-295 at Duval Road. The crash report says 43-year-old Lori Anne Dampier rear-ended a semi truck while traveling northbound, then crossing the median in to southbound lanes, where she hit a car and then another semi. The drivers of the two semi trucks were not hurt, but the driver of the car she hit- 45-year-old Brett Steeves was pronounced dead on the scene. A woman and two children in that car were also hurt.
The crash report says Dampier was under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol level just above the legal limit. The crash report also says Dampier tested positive for drugs, although there are no more details immediately available about that.
Dampier has now been arrested for vehicular homicide, driving while under the influence- manslaughter, driving under the influence- serious bodily injury, and driving under the influence- property damage. Duval County Jail records show she is still in custody.
