Winter storm: NE Florida, SE Georgia organizations, businesses closing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Local organizations and businesses are beginning to announce closures in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia ahead of the winter storm.

This list will be updated when organizations and businesses announce closures.

Florida

  • First Coast YMCA locations will close at 6 p.m. Tuesday and open late Wednesday. All programs scheduled for Tuesday are canceled.
  • The Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville will be closed Wednesday, January 22, 2025 due to the impending winter storm, in line with the University of North Florida. All programs and events during this time are cancelled until the storm has passed. This includes Setlan Coffee Co. and SoulFULL Eats. The museum plans to reopen for normal operations on Thursday, January 23. Any changes to this plan will be communicated as soon as possible.
  • The Museum of Science & History (MOSH) will be closed on Wednesday.

Georgia

  • Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge will be closed Wednesday and reopen Thursday. This closure includes the Overnight Camping Permit Line, Richard S. Bolt Visitor Center, Okefenokee Adventures, Swamp Island Drive, Chesser Island Homestead, and all hiking trails.
