WOKV has learned Whisky River in Jacksonville is closed.
The restaurant and club located in the Markets at the St. Johns Town Center had no employees or customers visibly inside when we checked out the location today at two different points after they were supposed to be open. One employee trying to enter the building told us she wasn’t informed the restaurant would be closed. Several customers also tried to get in, but could not. The patio furniture was not outside, although memorabilia still hung in the windows.
WOKV has now learned that closure is for good. We’ve confirmed with multiple sources that Whisky River’s lease ended today, and they could not reach an agreement with the property manager on a new rent level. One source says the property management wanted to increase the rent several thousand dollars per month.
The popular nightspot is one of the anchors for the initial phase of the Town Center.
We have reached out to the property management and restaurant ownership to get further comment. We will update you as more information is available.
