The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office shared a video Monday of how it helped to locate a missing warthog at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens on Friday.
Action News Jax told you Friday night that the zoo’s Colors of the Wind event had to be canceled as zoo staff searched for Mateo.

JSO said Officer Sam Ho with the Unmanned Aerial Systems unit helped with the search.
“With the help of the Eagle Eye thermal drone, he located Mateo the warthog in a palmetto thicket on the zoo’s property. Officer Ho was able to direct the search crew to Mateo’s location, where they were able to capture him. Mateo is now recovering with the zoo’s vet team,” JSO said in a post on its social media accounts.

The zoo shared the good news late Friday night that Mateo had been found and that he was being evaluated by the zoo’s vet staff to make sure he is OK.
