Two people were taken to the hospital in a morning fire at a home in south Mandarin.
Jacksonville Fire-Rescue Spokesman Tom Francis says several crews were initially on the scene of the fire in the 12,000 block of Toucan Drive. That's near San Jose Blvd and Julington Creek Road.

A couple was inside the house at the time and taken to Baptist Hospital with critical injuries.
Before firefighters arrived, the couple went back into their house to try to save their pets and when they went back in, neighbors said they didn't think they would make it back out.
Firefighters got the couple and their two cats out of the back of the house safely. Firefighters revived the cats. The dog didn't survive.
Francis says damage is estimated at $100,000.
