JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Local volunteers are spreading Christmas cheer to those in need.

On Christmas morning, over 300 hot meals were given out to the homeless at James Weldon Johnson Park.
Over 40 local volunteers got up bright and early to give back to others.
“This is the one thing that we look forward to every year,” said Angi Mansfield, one of the organizers. “It’s something that we can do to give back to our community. Our community supports us, so we want to support it.”
Breakfast in the park on Christmas Day has been a tradition for the last five years. It was started by a woman named Cynthia Saben.
Mansfield said they ended up serving over 350 people the first year.

“We know that we have a huge homeless population in Jacksonville, and this is one way that we are able to give back to them,” said Mansfield.
Year after year, it’s all made possible through community donations.
Along with food, volunteers also gave out supplies for animals and a few toys for kids.

This put a smile on faces and spread Christmas cheer.
“Very thankful,” said Prinston Paskins who attended the event.
