Jacksonville, Fl. — Venetia Elementary School’s doors will remain closed for the remainder of the school week after it caught fire Friday morning.
The fire broke out in the cafeteria near the stage area, nobody was hurt according to Duval County Public Schools officials. They noted the damage is limited to the cafeteria but did not mention how much of the room was damaged or cost estimates.
School is still in session Monday – Wednesday, all staff, and students will report to John Stockton Elementary located at 4827 Carlisle Road. There will be no changes to school hours.
DCPS says Venetia Elementary School will stay closed for foreseeable future as they assess damage, make any needed repairs. Students will be attending John Stockton next week until the winter break. @ActionNewsJax

If your child takes the bus, they can go to their regular bus stop, and their bus will take them to Stockton Elementary. Car riders can drive directly to the school. Walkers should walk to Venetia Elementary, a school bus will be provided to pick them up and take them to Stockton.
Extended day will happen as usual at Stockton Elementary. Breakfast and lunch will be provided as well.
