Shots fired near Naval Station Mayport sends four people to the hospital. One victim has died and three others are being treated for injuries at local hospitals.

Jacksonville Police have identified the man killed as 36-year-old Andrew Larry Swift.

It was a scene WOKV listeners witnessed around 4pm Thursday afternoon and will never forget. Mike Wydra witnessed as police responded to the crime scene with their guns drawn and three bodies laying across Mayport Road.

WOKV's Matt Augustine arrived on scene and says about ten shots were fired upon the victims. Police from Jacksonville, Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach are searching for the gunman who took off on foot southbound through Singleton Mobile Home Park at 120 Mayport Road, where the shooting occurred.

They searched late into the night but left the scene as of Friday morning.

Lt. Rob Schoonover with the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office says the four victims were sitting outside a mobile home behind the Harbor Tavern at the corner of Mayport Road and W. 2nd Street playing cards.  Witnesses told police an unidentified man walked up and shot all four people outside.

The victims were airlifted to Shands Jacksonville, where one of them died.  The other three men were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s, about 6'2, weighing just about 250 pounds. He has short black hair, and was wearing a white shirt, with either khaki or jean shorts.

Investigators had someone they were questioning, but released him soon after.  So far they have not identified a motive for the attack yet and the weapon has not been located.  JSO is leading the investigation.
