Two suspects sentenced for felony murder in death of Jacksonville man during drug robbery

Gerald Evans and Sarah Itani (St. Johns County Sheriff's Office)

Jacksonville, FL — Nearly a year after a 20-year-old Jacksonville man was fatally shot in St. Johns County in what arrest reports revealed was an intended drug robbery gone wrong, some of the suspects involved have been convicted and sentenced.

Now, court documents reveal Itani and Evans have both been sentenced.

Evans' case was closed in early December. He pleaded no contest to both 2nd-degree felony murder and robbery and was adjudicated guilty for both charges. Evans was sentenced to 15 years for each count, but his sentences will run concurrently. He'll also get 316 days for time already served.

As for Itani, she learned her sentence this month. Court documents reveal she pleaded guilty to both 2nd-degree felony murder and robbery and was sentenced to 12 years for each count. Her sentences will also run concurrently, with credit for 350 days time served.

Faulkner's case, meanwhile, remains open at this time. He's facing charges of second-degree felony murder, robbery, and tampering with physical evidence.
