Two Baldwin schools lift lockdown after gun threat

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Lockdowns have been lifted this morning at Baldwin Middle-Senior High School and Mamie Agnes Elementary School after a report said there was a man with a gun at a nearby Kwik Mart. Jonathan Brown was outside the store located off 301 and West Beaver Street when he saw an agitated man approach the store. Brown said, “When I jumped in to intervene, he said I got something for you and went to Hawkin’s motel and came back with a submachine gun.”

The Hawkins Motel is next door to the Kwik Mart.

He went on to say “We all went to the back and hid in the back room so that way we keep everyone safe, keep an eye on the front door, and then whenever he finally left and went away, we all came back out then he went over there [Hawkin’s motel] dropped off the gun, came back and then was trying to get back in the door to fight us again.

Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office did confirm that they were searching for a man with an assault weapon and the investigation is ongoing.

If you have any information about the incident JSO says to call the office at 904-630-8170 or crime stoppers at 904-398-3775
