Truck slams into Jacksonville home, missing child by 2 feet

Jacksonville — A truck slammed into a Sandalwood home with a child inside Tuesday night. The family told Action News Jax the driver lives across the street.

A 9-year-old boy picked the right place to sit. He narrowly missed being hit by a truck that came crashing into his living room. James Aluague’s family told Action News Jax their neighbor across the street accidentally backed into their home.

“It was, like, so loud,” said Aluague.

Action News Jax was told the driver is in the process of moving, and was taking her last load of furniture to her new home.

“I don’t know. Maybe she was anxious, or what happened, but accidents happen,” said Sharon Green, a neighbor.

Green was one of several concerned neighbors who watched as the truck was pulled from the home.

“Oh, my gosh, it was just terrible, just terrible. Those poor people,” said Green.

We asked the boy how scary it was. He replied, “Very scary.”
