Jacksonville, FL — The teenager who was driving a golf cart that crashed into another vehicle on Sunday afternoon at the Nocatee Town Center in St. Johns County was cited for careless driving.
The crash happened around 4:30 pm near the Wendy's on Capital Green Drive. St. Johns County Deputies say the driver of an SUV saw the golf cart approaching a stop sign and thought the cart would not stop. The golf cart suddenly swerved into the opposite lane and struck the SUV head-on.
A passenger on the golf cart, a 16-year-old girl from Ponte Vedra, was transported by Life Flight to Memorial Hospital. She was later released from the hospital.
The driver of the golf cart, who just turned 17-years-old today, was not transported from the scene according to a crash report. He was cited for careless driving.
The driver of the SUV was not injured in the collision.
