SWAT call leads to arrest of man who threatened to kill wife, mother-in-law, police

Jacksonville, FL — A Jacksonville man has been arrested after allegedly threatening to kill his wife and mother-in-law in their Arlington home.

The incident prompted a SWAT investigation Sunday, after police received a call from 37-year-old Christopher Marlier’s wife about an aggravated assault. The arrest report says the victim told police Marlier has been acting strange for several days, and then Sunday he started throwing things around the living room and garage. The victim and her mother- who also lives in the Oakcove Lane home- tried to calm him down, but they told police Marlier then pulled a handgun from his waistband, pointed it at his mother-in-law, and threatened to kill her if she didn’t get quiet. When Marlier’s wife started walking away, the arrest report says he pointed the gun at her and delivered a similar threat.

Marlier then left the home, but came back a short time later. Police got on the scene and saw that Marlier was armed with a shotgun in the back room and refusing to come out, according to the arrest report. JSO says Marlier said he “planned to kill ‘a bunch of cops’,” the report says.

The SWAT Team was able to take Marlier in to custody without incident.

The arrest report says both victims had identical stories, and two people nearby who were landscaping their yard also heard Marlier’s statements, although they didn’t see that he was armed.

Marlier now faces two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
