It took place at a Wendy’s off News Kings Road.

One man in his early 20s was shot in the chest and the suspects reportedly fled towards Nassau County and then ditched the car in Folkston.

Action News Jax caught video of the white Kia sedan being transported back to Jacksonville.

Action News Jax Shanila Kabir spoke to both witnesses in Folkston who saw the police chase and witnesses who saw the shooting.

A nearby employee said at least three businesses near the scene were closed off.

JSO officers said the victim was a man in his early 20s who was waiting to meet one of the suspects when another man showed up and started shooting.

One customer at the Wendy’s drive-thru told Action News Jax he saw the whole thing unfold. He asked to remain anonymous for his safety.

“It looked like an older guy came up and started shooting into the car. It looked like they shot back at him. It was kind of surreal. It seemed like it was, but it was seconds.”

Officers said the victim was shot once in his chest and his injuries are life-threatening.

One Folkston resident, Richard Lafferty, said he saw the police chase as he was driving to work. He said the white car the suspect was driving was racing close to 90 mph.

The investigation is ongoing. Officers stress- if you have any information on this case, you are encouraged to call law enforcement immediately.

Again, officers ask all Folkston residents to stay at home while the shooters remain at large.
