Jacksonville, FL — The Duval County School District confirms one student is being treated and another is in police custody, following a stabbing at Lake Shore Middle Tuesday.
Messaging sent to parents says there was a “physical altercation” that ended with one student suffering a stab wound on the campus. School administration says this was an isolated incident, but they are still actively investigating.
“We have security protocols in place and are taking this situation very seriously as student safety is our top priority,” says the message from the school Principal.
DCPS is not releasing any further information about the incident at this time, including the ages and identities of the students involved and the motive to the initial fight. We’ve also asked about the condition of the student who was stabbed, but DCPS cannot confirm that at this time.
