While Jewish citizens only comprise around 2% of Northeast Florida, the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that of all reported religion-based hate crimes, antisemitic hate crimes took up 68% in 2023.

The new campaign will feature pink billboards strategically placed in major locations across Northeast Florida, such as on I-95 or I-10. Each with a distinct message, see an example below:

“Through vibrant pink billboards and engaging community activations, the JewBelong campaign aims to create interest, confront antisemitism head-on, and spark meaningful conversations,” said Haley Trager, Board Chair of the Jewish Federation & Foundation of Northeast Florida. “By providing these public reminders, we hope to inspire action and make a visible stand against hate.”

The campaign will also coincide with several major local events, such as the Gate River Run, The Players Championship, and CollectiveCon, ensuring that thousands of people will see the campaign and become part of this important effort.

“Our purpose is to educate Northeast Florida about the dangers of antisemitism and how people of moral clarity can stand up to Jew-hatred,” said Jennifer Plotkin, Chair of the Jewish Community Relations Council. “This campaign offers an opportunity for all individuals to engage in the conversation and take a stand for what is right.”

Jacksonville is not the only city to host this campaign, as other Jewish Federations throughout the country in cities such as Dallas and Atlanta, have adopted this program.
