ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Crews were able to quickly wrangle in a reptile that broke out of the St. Augustine Alligator Farmās zoo van and made a dash for the road.
According to a social media post, the alligator farm said they were moving their crocodilians to another area of the zoo Tuesday when the incident happened.
Though the animal was secured and placed in the van, zoo officials said it was able to escape out the vanās back window.
Jessica Stark, a passerby, recorded a video of crews recapturing the reptile that was seen on a median.
The St. Augustine Alligator Farm gave credit to two female employees ā Karsyn, a reptile keeper and Gen, a general curator ā as well as Ryan and Donald from the maintenance team ā for recapturing the animal.
āTHIS is why we have extensive training and do drills, to prepare for moments like this,ā St. Augustine Alligator Farmās Facebook post stated. āAt no time was there any real danger as the animalās mouth was secured,ā the post added.
