24-year-old St. Augustine man dead after crashing into pole

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 24-year-old St. Augustine man died after crashing into a concrete electric pole, according to troopers.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the single-car crash happened Monday just before 10 a.m. on US-1 south of International Golf Parkway.

For unknown reasons, troopers said he drove off the road, hitting the pole.

Troopers said the man was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car. He died at the scene.

This is the third deadly crash troopers have responded to Monday morning in the Jacksonville area.

Action News Jax reported earlier when two people in St. Johns County were killed in a head-on crash on State Road A1A (South Ponte Vedra Boulevard).

FHP is also searching for driver that left the scene of a crash in Jacksonville that left a 46-year-old man dead at US-17 and Zoo Parkway.
