If your weekend plans involve the beach, St. Johns County is asking you to use extreme caution.
The county says due to a nor’easter it is expecting unusually high surf and tides, dangerous currents, and strong winds at the beaches beginning Saturday and into early next week.
If you go to the beach, the county is asking you to avoid swimming due to the potentially dangerous conditions.
Additionally, the county says due to tidal flooding, it may need to restrict on-beach driving. Some pedestrian access points could be impacted as well.
To get the latest on beach conditions, the county recommends downloading the Reach the Beach mobile app.
