Jacksonville — Nassau County deputies say they made a huge meth bust last Friday because a man didn’t use his turn signal. Investigators said they noticed a 2007 Toyota Avalon with an obscured license tag cut in front of a semi-truck just south of the Florida/Georgia line on I-95. When they pulled the car over, the Sheriff’s Office says the two men inside were acting very nervous and one of them opened and closed the glove box quickly.
A drug detecting dog helped them find a plastic bag inside the glove box with 3.69 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, with a street value of over $100,000. Edward Sharpe, Jr., 65, and Robert Blevins, 37, both from Fernandina Beach, were arrested.
They were charged with trafficking methamphetamine over 14 grams, bringing contraband substance into the state and attempt, solicitation and conspiracy to sell an illegal substance.
