Shoppers at Fruit Cove Walmart ‘in fear for their lives’ at seeing man with knife inside store

Jacksonville, FL — It had to be frightening for shoppers inside the Walmart Neighborhood Market in Fruit Cove on Tuesday as a man armed with a knife knocked items off shelves and knocked over shopping carts.

No one was injured, but a few of the shoppers told St. Johns County Deputies they were in fear for their lives and the lives of others due to the man’s actions.

An incident report says the man was wearing no shirt and was wielding a knife with a blade that appeared to be six inches long.  The suspect was spotted walking southbound on State Road 13 by a deputy and waved the knife over his head.

As other deputies arrived on scene they challenged the suspect at gunpoint, and he finally dropped the knife and was taken into custody.  Deputies say they found marijuana in his pocket.

Lee Bailey is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, resisting without violence, possession of cannabis under 20 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
