Orange Park, Fla. — Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook posted on social media on Sunday that Alyssa Umbaugh had been found safe and reunited with her family.
The 15-year-old’s disappearance in early December sparked a social media campaign and searches by volunteers.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office released this statement on Sunday morning:

“Alyssa Umbaugh has been safely reunited with family members. We appreciate everyone’s willingness to share her photo and information as we worked to locate her. Our investigative efforts are ongoing and anyone who may have encouraged her to runaway, assisted in hiding her, or kept her whereabouts unknown to law enforcement will be held accountable.”
