PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla — Putnam County deputies arrested a man on drug charges Monday following a traffic stop on Roselle Avenue. According to the sheriff’s office, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Samauel Shorter. They said he made several traffic violations, including crossing a double line and almost striking a vehicle head-on near Silver Lake Drive, a sheriff’s office news release states.

Investigators say Shorter eventually pulled over in the middle of the road on Roselle Avenue, but failed to comply with deputies, the news release states. Shorter exited his vehicle and was placed in the back of a patrol car. Deputies searched his vehicle and found 34 grams of marijuana, a scale, and a dictionary, the news release states.

Upon further review of the dictionary, deputies saw it was hollowed out and contained six grams of fentanyl, four grams of crystal methamphetamine and a white powder believed to be cocaine, the news release states.
“Shorter was arrested and charged with fleeing/eluding police, resisting officer without violence, trafficking fentanyl 4 grams or more, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, drug equipment possession and possession of marijuana over 20 grams,” the news release states. He is being held at the Putnam County Jail without bond.
