JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Several Republican Congress Representatives followed through with their votes against Joe Biden in the overnight Congress session.
The twelve representatives that voted in opposition were Representatives John Rutherford, Kat Cammack, Mario Diaz-Balart, Byron Donalds, Neal Dunn, Scott Franklin, Matt Gaetz, Carlos Giminez, Brian Mast, Bill Posey, Greg Steube and Dan Webster.
Cammack told Jacksonville’s Morning News that her vote was about protecting the process of the election.
“We weren’t objecting to the entire process, but we were objecting to the states that had constitutionally violated their state electors process,” Cammack said.
Rep. Michael Waltz was going to be on the list to oppose the vote, but following the riots at the Capitol that resulted in one protester’s death and over 60 arrests, he changed his mind.
However, Waltz says that he still believes there should be an investigation into the Presidential Election.
“There are some serious constitutional issues at play. They need to be addressed. I wish they had been heard by the Supreme Court. They should have been,” Waltz told Jacksonville’s Morning News. “And I’m calling for a federal commission to get those things going and get those things addressed by the states: Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona. They need to clean up their election systems, as Florida has had to do over over the past few decades, because the end of the day, a democracy only works if everyone has confidence that their vote counts as they intended and it’s free and it’s fair.”
Both Cammack and Waltz also told Jacksonville’s Morning News that what happened at the Capitol yesterday was condemnable and does not represent the Republican Party.
“I condemn the violence that I witnessed firsthand yesterday. I received personal text messages and and things saying that that that I should have joined the rioters. That’s crazy. We are a nation of laws and we as Republicans are the party of law and order,” Cammack said. “And so anyone who doesn’t fully condemn the violence that calls themselves a conservative or Republican is in fact not. This is infuriating to me and I am absolutely heartbroken.”
“These thugs don’t represent the thousands of peaceful protesters. I had busloads coming from Daytona, St. John’s County and others there to make sure their voices were heard, but to do so peacefully. And it’s just really a shame, saddening and really just frankly pisses me off that that these thugs undermined all of that and undermined all of the good work that this administration has done for the country with these despicable actions,” Waltz said.

Our constitutional process of debating the state electors is now complete and Joe Biden is certified as the next President of the United States. Congratulations to President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris. I pray for them as they lead our great country.
