The video was filmed while the witness was driving down US 17, just a few hours after Action News Jax reported on a similar suspected sighting Thursday night.

Since our report last night, JSO reported officers responded to two calls related to suspicious drone sightings.

One incident was reported off Atlantic Blvd. and the other was on the Northside.

Officers did not witness any drones themselves upon arrival.

“See something say something,” said Congressman John Rutherford (R-FL 5th District).

Rutherford said he finds the mysterious drone sightings popping up across the nation concerning.

That being said, he noted not all sightings are bound to turn out to be legitimate threats, and he’s not surprised to see a spike in reports happening now.

“The more we talk about these things, the more people are going to go out and legally fly their drones at night too and, you know, light up the sky,” said Rutherford. ”Maybe to get on television.”

Congressman Aaron Bean (R-FL 4th District) also stated the alleged sightings.

“I’m working with both Federal and State agencies to gather more information to get Northeast Floridians the answers they deserve,” said Bean.

As far as NAS JAX is concerned, the base said it is aware of the sightings reported nationwide.

NAS JAX told Action News Jax it has not identified any direct threats to the installation, but the base, “Remains prepared to respond to any potential risks, leveraging robust security measures and advanced detection capabilities”.

Rutherford argued at the end of the day, he’d rather see people making reports that turn out to be nothing, rather than have someone fail to report something that turns out to be nefarious.

“But the key is, we gotta know about all of them, so we can check them all out,” said Rutherford.

NAS JAX is asking anyone who observes suspicious activity near the base to contact local law enforcement or the base’s watch commander at 904-509-6962.
