Scott: Florida is a must-win

With the final Presidential debate taking place in the Sunshine state and a campaign blitz spanning the last week, the candidates on both tickets seem to be heeding a familiar message.

“To win the President you have to win Florida,” says Florida Governor Rick Scott.

During a brief stop in Jacksonville, Scott told me within our big swing state there are a few crucial areas, and Northeast Florida is one.

“It’s clearly a very important part of our state. A lot of voters here,” he says.

He expects there will be a heavy presence from the candidates in the remaining few weeks of the campaign, especially along the First Coast.

But speaking on what he and voters wasn’t to hear out of the debate and the rest of the campaign, Scott says it comes down to jobs.

“They’re gotta reduce taxes at the federal level, they’re gotta reduce the number of regulations that are killing jobs, they’re gotta streamline permitting processes, and they’ve gotta say ‘Look, we like businesses’.”

He hopes those practices- which he has been working on here in Florida- are ones that eventually move up to the federal level.
