Jacksonville, FL — The area in and around the Jacksonville Landing has seen other violent acts before Sunday's deadly shooting during a sanctioned Madden video game competition.

In early January 2017, two teens were shot during the monthly Art Walk event, which was taking place near the Landing. A 16-year-old and 17-year-old were shot, and their injuries were not life threatening.

Nearly two weeks later on the Landing property, a 16-year-old was killed and a 13-year-old wounded in a double shooting that was believed to be retaliation for the prior event.  It happened as many people were in the downtown area celebrating the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Khamoi Petersen died nine days shy of his 17th birthday after he was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries once officers discovered him on the ground. A 13-year-old boy survived after being shot in the leg.

18-year-old Tyrik Solomon pleaded guilty to a weapons charge, the only charge that was filed against him in connection to the investigation.

In 2012, a Chicago Bears fan who was in town to watch his team play the Jaguars was stabbed to death outside of the Landing, following a fight in one of the restaurants.  William "Chris" Pettry was involved in a fight at Fionn MacCool's.  28-year-old Matthew Hinson pleaded guilty to stabbing Pettry and was sentenced to life in prison.
