A man is killed in front his daughter and grandson during a home invasion Monday night on Jacksonville's Southside, not far from the St. Johns Town Center.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office tells us a suspect kicked in the front door to the home on Skycrest Drive, near Windy Hill Elementary.
"While inside the residence there was an argument that ensued and during that argument the individual that went in the residence brandished a handgun and shot our victim", said Sgt. Dan Jansen.
JSO identified the victim as Anatoliy Glavnick. So far police are not saying if they know who the shooter is, or the relationship with Glavnick, but police believe the family was targeted. Glavnik's daughter says the suspect was demanding pills and money.
“We don't have any indication of any immediate threat to any other neighbors,” Jansen said. “Obviously, we are concerned that we have a gunman that's on the loose.”
Police are telling us the suspect got into a grey or light colored SUV, heading northbound on Skycrest Drive. Glavkin's daughter tells our partner Action News Jax that the suspect was wearing a mask, jeans, a denim long-sleeve, and work boots. She also said he was very tall.
Anyone who has any information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS. You can remain anonymous and receive a possible reward of up to $3,000.
