Person injured in JTA bus vs. train accident on the Westside

Jacksonville — At least one person has been injured after an accident involving a JTA bus and an Amtrak train at Roosevelt and McDuff.  WOKV has a reporter at the scene.

We’ve also recieved a statement from Amtrak that said there were 466 customers on the train. “There are no reported injuries to customers or crew onboard the train, said Kimberly Woods with Amtrak.  “The train originated in Lorton, Virginia, and resumed service at around 8:19 a.m.”  It was heading to Sanford, Florida at the time.

JTA said no passengers were injured on the bus, but the driver had minor injuries.  Witnesses said it appeared the bus was pulled out too far into the intersection when the train hit it, but JTA says they’re still investigating the cause of the collision. This story will be updated as we learn more.
