2 people rescued by Coast Guard off Fernandina Beach

The Coast Guard says they had to tow a disabled boat Thursday morning that broke down 68 miles off the coast of Fernandina Beach. According to the Coast Guard the boat had two people on board. The Coast Guard says their command center in Jacksonville received a call early Thursday morning about a boat losing steering control and was disabled. The Coast Guard says they deployed an 87-foot patrol boat to tow the disabled boat back to shore.

The Coast Guard says a sister ship of the disabled boat met up with the the 87-foot patrol boat near the Mayport sea buoy and finished towing the boat into Safe Harbor Marina.

The 2 people on the disabled boat are in good condition.
