The dogs were surrendered to ACPS a day after Action News Jax reported neighbors’ concerns (WATCH: Surveillance video shows pack of dogs terrorize southside neighborhood, kill several cats – Action News Jax). They said the dogs killed several feral and pet cats and a chicken. Officers captured the dogs and returned them to their home last Friday.

On Tuesday, the dogs escaped again and killed at least two more cats and prompted a lock down at Brookview Elementary.

Parents received this message from the district, “The school is on a code yellow lockdown due to reports of approximately 5 dogs that were seen on our campus who appear aggressive. All students and staff are safe inside the school building. At this time, the dogs do not appear to be on the campus, but there exact whereabouts are unknown. Animal Control is on the scene.”

The lockdown was lifted after ACPS officers captured the dogs and the current caretaker surrendered them.

A representative for the City of Jacksonville said the owner is currently in jail and the dogs were under the watch of a caretaker.

The dogs’ address was given to Action News Jax by the City. According to the Property Appraiser, the home belongs to Kim McIntosh, who was booked in the Duval County Jail last week for felony DUI and driving with a revoked license.

Home surveillance videos showed the dogs terrorize the neighborhood, including attacking a pet cat last week. Neighbors reported it to ACPS, but under Florida statute, “An animal that is the subject of a dangerous dog investigation because of severe injury to a human being may be immediately confiscated by an animal control authority.” The City did not report any injuries to humans.

One woman said her mother’s two cats were killed Tuesday morning by the pack of dogs.

“It’s horrible for any cat to be in that situation, especially with dogs like that. Especially with a pack,” Kimberly Baker said. “You don’t know what they do. They could attack children, or older people.”
