ORANGE PARK, Fla. — The Orange Park Police Department spotted a car in the St. Johns River outside of the Moosehaven retirement community.
Firefighters searched the car and found it was abandoned and unoccupied. The police department stated in a Facebook post that further investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen from Clay County. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office took the car for evidence.
“Big thanks to retired OPPD Lt. Cornett for allowing the use of of his boat to help get the vehicle attached to the tow line of the crane,” the Facebook post later stated. “This was a solid team effort. As unfortunate as it is to recover a vehicle in this condition, we are thankful no one was found to be harmed inside.”
