One dog, two cats perish in plane that overran runway at NAS JAX

Jacksonville,FL — While all 143 human passengers survived Friday night’s hard landing at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, three animals perished.

NAS JAX reports one dog and two cats belonging to a military family have been recovered from the aircraft.

“Those who were involved in this sad tasking performing the recovery in the most dignified way possible with the base veterinarian on site to ensure all protocols were followed. The animals will be cremated through a local company”, according to a statement from NAS JAX.

One animal that traveled in the cabin was safely removed by its owner following Friday’s landing.
