NYC takes aim at new Florida Parental Rights in Education law

Billboards supporting LGBTQ visibility will be displayed in five major markets in Florida, including Jacksonville.

Jacksonville, Fl — New York City is launching a digital billboard campaign to lure Floridians unhappy with a newly signed law.

Mayor Eric Adams said Monday that the billboards supporting LGBTQ visibility will be displayed in five major markets in Florida, including Jacksonville.

The announcement came one week after Governor Ron DeSantis signed the Parental Rights in Education Act into law. It forbids instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade. Adams called the Florida law “a targeted attack on the LGBTQ+ population.”

A statement from Governor Ron DeSantis said in part: “If anyone is so upset about our governor defending parental rights that they want to leave Florida for a crime-ridden socialist dystopia, our state will be better off without them.”
