Jacksonville — New renderings from the City of Jacksonville show the area the Landing sits on currently as a large park with bike paths and spots for potential retail space. According to the rendering fountains and a formal garden would be included in the park.
Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry says what the potential buildings house won’t be up to the city.
“Open to whatever, whatever the markets will allow to work there, and that’s why we need to work with the private sector.” Mayor Curry says.
Mayor Curry also says he is open to tweaks and would like for the final plans to be discussed by the community.
The owners of the landing responded to the city’s renderings with a statement that says in part “In 2015, the city spent $100,000 on its own public design plans and we loved it. We wish they would pick one so we can get to work. We’ve been ready to redevelop The Landing since the day we bought it in 2003.”
Nothing can happen to the landing until the ongoing litigation between the city and the owners of the Landing, Sleiman Enterprises, is settled.
