Jacksonville — It’s a new way to get into the San Marco area.
The Florida Department of Transportation says they plan to open a new off ramp from I-95 north on to Atlantic Boulevard sometime this week, if the weather cooperates with construction crews. Originally it was reported the new off ramp would be open by Monday morning, but that has been pushed back. FDOT says they are investigating why the opening was delayed. FDOT says once the new ramp opens up, it will mark the end of major construction for the Overland Bridge Project, which is all the construction you’ve seen on the interstate in between Emerson and The Fuller Warren Bridge over the last 5 plus years.
FDOT says, with the new ramp opening up, there will be new traffic lights to look out for at the bottom of the off ramp from 95 north and Atlantic. The state says the traffic lights are flashing at the intersections to let people know about the upcoming new signal. FDOT says there will also be a new traffic light in use at the bottom of the off ramp from I-95 south on to Atlantic.
The state says there will still be some residual construction associated with the Overland Bridge Project. FDOT says some of the construction will be painting walls and lines on local roads as well as installing overhead signs.
