Teaming up to better serve you.
A new fire station and operations center for the Sheriff’s Office opened Wednesday in St. Johns County. The joint facility is on U.S. 1 in the St. Augustine South area and will help to serve those in the southern part of the county.
St. Johns County Fire Chief Jeff Prevatt says today is a proud day for public safety in the county.
“This building is a reminder that the future of St. Johns County remains bright.” Prevatt says.
County officials say the facility will help improve response times by allowing for more coordination between the deputies and fire rescue.
County Commission Chair Paul Waldron says the facility could serve as a prototype for similar buildings needed across the county.
“I see this being needed probably in the north part of the county in the near future.” Waldron says.
We’re told the new facility will be staffed 24 hours a day.
