Neighbors raising safety concerns about two deep potholes in Bartram Park

Jacksonville, FL — Neighbors say they’ve seen cars pulled over with flat tires, and several were towed away with damage.

It’s a busy road that’s a bumpy ride.

“I’ve been living here for four years, and there are constantly potholes,” said one neighbor who asked not to be named.

A neighbor told Action News Jax Reporter Jamarlo Phillips he had to pay more than $300 in repairs after his wife drove into a caved-in section of road Monday morning.

“We are driving on subpar infrastructure,” he said.

The man says his wife’s car was towed away with damage to the undercarriage.

“I had to pay for an alignment out of pocket and also get the tire replaced,” he added.

Shortly after that happened, he took a picture of another driver pulled over, he says, for the same reason.

“I’m curious to know what the developer did when they put the road in, and why they’re falling apart,” the neighbor said.

We called City Councilman Danny Becton, who represents this area, to try find out what the city is doing to fix the problem.

Since it’s Christmas Eve and government offices are currently closed, I left a voicemail and am now waiting to hear back.

“Just a stream all day long, putting on spares or getting towed because of potholes,” said the neighbor.

Luckily, this neighbor’s plea for an early Christmas miracle did get some attention.

Crews put up cones and a caution sign to alert drivers, but neighbors want to know when to expect a permanent fix, to their pothole problem.

Action News Jax will continue to follow up with Becton and the city, to see when crews will get back out here to repair the road.
